Adopt-a-Beach Clean Up
Great news, everyone! Harvard-Westlake Ohana has teamed up with Heal the Bay’s Adopt-a-Beach Program to make a positive impact on our environment. We’re taking charge of keeping Santa Monica State Beach by the Annenberg Beach House clean and inviting for everyone. Join us for some family-friendly fun, and let’s give back to the community together!
Date: Saturday, January 13, 2024
Time: 8 am – 11 am
Location: Santa Monica State Beach – Annenberg Beach House
Heal the Bay will set us up with safety talks, educational resources, and some neat games. And guess what? You’ll even get an official Certificate of Completion for participating. How cool is that?
What to Bring on Cleanup Day:
- PPE including masks and gloves
- Hand sanitizer
- A bucket or bag
- Close-toed shoes
- Reusable water bottle
- Data tracking tools
For those keen on stats, check out the Marine Debris Tracker App (https://debristracker.org) to keep track of your cleanup efforts. You can also request cleanup supplies like trash bags and disposable gloves if needed.
After the Cleanup:
Toss the trash in the right bins, wash your hands, and make sure to sanitize all your gear. Also, don’t forget to submit your data and a photo to Heal the Bay’s Beach Programs Manager.
Important: Before participating, everyone needs to sign a liability waiver. You can find the form here: https://www.healthebay.org/waiver. For those under 18, you’ll need a parent or legal guardian to sign for you. No exceptions!
And here’s the cherry on top: Once we’ve wrapped up our cleanup, let’s gather for a family lunch at Back on the Beach – Annenberg Beach House.
So mark your calendars, and we can’t wait to see you there!
